Deco Products Company, LLLP of Decorah Iowa is pleased to announce the purchase of the assets of Mumford Metal Casting of South Carolina (MMCSC) on March 15, 2021. MMCSC operated numerous 4-slide miniature zinc die casting machines. The sale of MMCSC allows Mumford to focus on materials other than zinc in their other facilities. The purchase of MMCSC’s assets expands Deco’s capabilities and capacity.
Deco Products is a privately owned company and has been in operations since 1960. Deco casts all hot chamber zinc alloys. In addition, Deco adds significant value to its castings through machining, assembly and powder coating. With the acquisition of MMCSC, Deco will have over 100 die cast machines ranging from the 4-slide machines through conventional 500 Ton machines.
The purchase of Mumford Metals further increases Deco Products capabilities for comprehensive zinc die casting solutions. “The additional equipment for smaller high precision castings will complement Deco’s current established processes for medium and larger castings,” per Dave Magner, Director of Sales and Marketing. “The acquisition is also expected to provide more design and manufacturing options for our customers and additional solutions for optimal performance and cost across their entire zinc casting requirements”.
Chris Storlie, Deco CEO, explains that this acquisition is part of Deco’s strategic growth plan as the company continues to grow its share in the zinc casting market. “This acquisition will provide positive benefits to all Deco stakeholders from customers, employees, vendors, the local community as well as the owners.”
“MMCSC equipment and production is being moved to the Decorah, IA facility which will allow for improved synergy with the rest of the zinc casting operation” according to COO, Randy Tangen.
